Cneai flying residences =

Since its creation, artistic and cultural education has been at the heart of cneai =’s programming. As an art center that is composed, navigated, engaged, sheltered and imagined, cneai = emphasizes mobility, solidarity and decompartmentalization. The projects of this contemporary art center are not concentrated in a single fixed location, but are spread across the different territories that cross it, from the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris, through Normandy, to the Île-de-France region.
In this way, the cneai = is able to expand beyond its walls in a spirit of openness and interconnection. Through this partnership, the aim is to promote the association of different disciplines to build projects that highlight research, production and the dissemination of art. With this in mind, cneai = collaborates with artists and supports them in residency and artistic and cultural education projects in partnership with the DSDEN of Seine-Saint-Denis.
For the first year of our partnership, we’re offering a residency in a school environment for an artist and students to create a collaborative work in connection with the artist’s current research. These residencies are also an opportunity to support contemporary creation. In this way, students are brought closer to artistic creation and the process of co-creation. The work produced will then be widely distributed. The timetable and cultural itinerary will be determined according to the artist, his or her project, and the educational project of the participating school or establishment.

Violaine Lochu in residency

Violaine Lochu is welcomed in residency at École Maternelle Arc-en-Ciel in Montfermeil, Seine-Saint-Denis, for the 2024-2025 school year. This project examines the phenomena of transmission/imitation/transformation at work in early childhood. It examines how children learn by ingesting, more or less consciously, a certain number of values from the various environments that surround them (family, school, media, etc.). This project is designed to challenge the classic adult/child binary, seeking out areas of porosity and confusion. Set in the greater Paris suburbs or Seine-Saint-Denis, the project would highlight the cultural and social diversity of children and families.

Violaine Lochu’s work explores the voice as a vector of encounter and meta-morphosis. During long periods of immersion in specific environments, she gathers various sound and visual materials from which she creates performances, sound installations, videos and editions. Her practice is transdisciplinary, evolving in the fields of contemporary art, experimental music and sound poetry; creating bridges between contemporary and ancient, scholarly and popular universes; nourished by encounters but also by reading works belonging to the human sciences (anthropology, sociology, psychoanalysis). Encounters and collaborations (with other musicians - Julien Desprez, Joëlle Léandre, Serge-Teyssot-Gay, Méryll Ampe… - choreographers, circus artists, visual artists, humanities researchers…) are at the heart of her approach.
