The general principle is that of an art library. Like a library that lends books, the cneai = lends works of art from the Collection des Multiples to participating classes. Like young collectors, students enjoy privileged access to the works. They are encouraged to observe, analyze, manipulate and question the works in order to choose and borrow them. Once this decisive first step has been completed, the selected works are returned to the school or establishment. Accompanied by the cneai = team, a visiting artist and their teachers, students will experience all the stages, decisions and surprises that lead to the creation of an exhibition. Students will take turns curating, managing, mediating and designing! Together, they create their own exhibition at the heart of their school or educational establishment. It’s a collective effort that takes shape at the vernissage, when all the school’s students, families, friends, neighbors and partners are invited to discover the works on display.
Workshop and exhibition at the school
Since its creation, artistic and cultural education has been at the heart of cneai =’s programming. As an art center that is composed, navigated, engaged, sheltered and imagined, cneai = emphasizes mobility, solidarity and decompartmentalization. The projects of this contemporary art center are not concentrated in a single fixed location, but are spread across the different territories that cross it, from the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris, through Normandy, to the Île-de-France region. In this way, the cneai = is able to expand beyond its walls in a spirit of openness and interconnection. Through this partnership, the aim is to promote the association of different disciplines to build joint projects that highlight the research, production and dissemination of art. With this in mind, cneai = collaborates with artists and supports them in residency and artistic and cultural education projects, in partnership with the DSDEN of Seine-Saint-Denis. For the first year of our partnership, we are offering a residency in a school environment for an artist and students to create a collaborative work in line with the artist’s ongoing research. These residencies are also an opportunity to support contemporary creation. In this way, students are brought closer to artistic creation and the process of co-creation. The work produced will then be widely distributed. The timetable and cultural itinerary will be determined according to the artist, his or her project, and the educational project of the participating school or establishment.
