Art & Design residencies

For the second year running, cneai = is inviting applications from craftspeople and designers. In May or September 2025, two professionals will be welcomed for a one-month residency at the Maison Flottante.

Objectives of the residence

The aim of this residency is to :
= Highlight the value of arts and crafts and their integration into the creative process
= Provide a period of research and experimentation for future projects
= Promote research and experimentation at a public event.

Residence arrangements

This residency is open to craftspeople and designers whose practice demonstrates a link with the field of research and creation. Group and family applications are welcome.

CONDITIONS //
The Floating House, comprising a workspace and accommodation, will be made available to the winners.
= Duration: one month / May or September 2025
= Residence grant: €2,000
= Production grant: €1,000
= Remuneration for public time: €150
= Transport (within the limit of): €100

CANDIDATE //
The application must include :
= An artistic portfolio representative of your current practice and/or a link to a website.
= A note of intent on current thinking and/or forms developed and/or needs.
= A choice of month: May or September 2025.

The application file must be sent to the attention of the jury in PDF format and must not exceed 10 MB.

NB: As La Maison Flottante is a long way from basic shops, the artist will have to be self-sufficient in his or her daily journeys. The art centre team, based in Paris, is not present on site, nor is any machinery made available. Applicants must be available to stay for the duration of the residency.

Selection criteria

= Demonstrated interest in research and creation.
= Demonstrated interest in the area where the residency will take place.
= A unique practice rooted in contemporary issues.
= A need for support.
= A match between the art centre’s resources and the applicant’s specific needs.

cneai =

The cneai = Centre d’art composé, navigué, engagé, abrité, imaginé is dedicated to the production and dissemination of contemporary art. Based in the Île-de-France region, the cneai = also has a floating studio-home, the Maison Flottante, moored on the banks of the Seine at Poses. The cneai = is reinventing itself as an archipelago, a network of places, like so many permanent or temporary counters, like shared or pirate zones, places of experimentation or distance. In Normandy, the Maison Flottante calls for mobility and residency in and out of urban centres, with a decentred movement and an adventurous dynamic. The cneai = is also developing international programming by managing off-site projects and supporting artists and artistic companies.
