Residency
Micromégas is a residency programme dedicated to media arts, organised by cneai= and Videotage, in partnership with HART HAUS, with the support of the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macao. Conceived as a recurring programme since 2021, this residency offers a different theme each year with the aim of fostering in-depth cultural exchanges between France and Hong Kong.
The 2026 edition focuses on the intersection between the body and technology, exploring how technologies shape perception and embodiment. This year’s programme brings together two artists for an intercultural exchange between Paris and Hong Kong.
The French artist, selected following this call for applications, will undertake a three-week residency at HART HAUS in Hong Kong, with support from Videotage for their research. They will then have a production period of between 15 days and one month — with support from cneai= — to create a work for the 2027 exhibition.
Hong Kong-based artist Angela Su, whose practice explores bodily perception through metamorphosis, hybridity and transformation, will take part in a one-month residency organised by cneai= in Paris. The works of both artists will be featured in the group exhibition Micromégas at La Maison Fleuve (L’Île-Saint-Denis) in 2027, alongside artists from previous editions.
Objectives of the residency
The successful candidate (artist) will be required to work and liaise closely with the partners supporting the residency in order to achieve the following objectives:
• To promote mobility and cooperation between France and Hong Kong;
• To encourage artists to engage with technology in a critical and experimental manner within their artistic practice;
• To provide time and support for research, experimentation and the development of current or future projects;
• To support artists’ professional development by offering them comprehensive advice and assistance, particularly in the areas of networking, production and project methodology, administrative and legal procedures, and promotion;
• There are no restrictions on the format: video, photography, painting, textiles, etc. The only requirement is that the work must be easily transportable.
