The works of the young Ukrainian artist Daniil Nemirovsky serve as an artistic documentation of the times, capturing events and offering an immediate reflection on the surrounding horror. After spending a month under Russian occupation in the city of Mariupol, cut off from the outside world and enduring constant bombardments, the artist created a series of graphic works. Through the faces of Mariupol, he portrays not only the horrors of war but also the new reality of the occupied city and the narratives of daily life in bomb shelters.

In support of Ukrainian artists facing a complete halt in the art market since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris and the Maison de l’Île-de-France are exhibiting works by Ukrainian artists. Since the conflict began, Ukrainians have learned to live in a constant state of potential danger from bombings. Yet life goes on. It involves finding a balance between sirens, work, daily routines, and fear. The exhibition WAR-LIFE-BALANCE focuses on the artistic pursuit of this balance, on art in times of war, and on the art that preceded it.
