A typographic composition inspired by the unfinished manuscript of Jack Torrance, the cursed writer of The Shining, in which only one sentence appears, repeated over and over: “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

All work and no play is a work of ghost literature. Nicolas Giraud’s project unfolds outside fiction, between writing and serial abstraction. It is the first edition of the typescript begun by Jack Torrance in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. The work is built in two volumes, the typescript and its analysis, which allow a dialogue between the original work and its critical approach through a series of notes.
