A collection of testimonies from Ukrainian students and researchers hosted at the Maison de l’Ukraine of the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris, who share their stories and future aspirations. This book is a collection of intimate and powerful stories, written by Ukrainian students and researchers at the Maison de l’Ukraine of the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris, through writing workshops organized by director Olympe Cawdor. Through their words, these residents, war refugees, share their stories of survival, loss and reconstruction after fleeing the conflict in Ukraine.
Each deeply human testimony bears witness to the challenges they faced in seeking refuge, to the memories of a life abruptly interrupted, but also to their strength and hope for the future. The result of a collective project combining writing workshops, translation and artistic accompaniment, this book documents a unique and dramatic period, while offering a voice to a youth engaged in a quest for peace and renewal. More than a simple collection, this book is a bridge between yesterday’s trials and tomorrow’s hopes, a tribute to human solidarity and resilience.
The Maison de l’Ukraine at the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris publishes the art book “Éclats d’Ukraine. Ukrainian resilience at the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris”, under the impetus of the director of the Maison, Bertrand Cosson. The cover is a painting by Viktoria Oreshko, resident of the Maison de l’Ukraine, artist and translator of all these testimonies, entitled “Rouge à lèvres” (“Lipstick”). Photographs by Hervé Champollion punctuate the edition and its testimonials. The book is also protected by an elegant cartonnage, designed by the French design house La Martiennerie, which gradually unfolds to reveal the painting on the cover.
