Composed of Jade Fourès-Varnier and Vincent de Hoÿm, the Jacent duo create large-scale, domestic-inspired installations where visitors are welcomed as guests. The fusion of art and life is at the heart of their research. Depending on the context, the duo adapt their multidisciplinary proposals, which they describe as “total art”.

The special space of L’Académie, this former 17th-century manor house, its layout (the four adjoining rooms), the scale of the place and its classical ornamental details inspired Jacent to create an exhibition in three acts. These acts follow one another and revolve around a central theme: celebrating collective, domestic and intimate life. Practical and convivial, the first room is dedicated to the banquet (tables, plates and painted tablecloths, available to the public). In the spirit of Impressionism, the large carpet, cushions and low fresco in the second room invite contemplation. Finally, with sculptures on the walls and ceramic installations on the floor, the last two rooms speak of sexuality, love and intimacy.

At the same time, Jacent is invited by RolaBola, a young artists run space (Louis Lallier, César Lecoq and Lauralie Nauman) which has been occupying a shop window in downtown Rouen since January 2021. Entitled “…It Flows By Itself”, their exhibition there complements the one at SHED (Académie site). It takes up its motifs and functions as a “teaser”.
